Montclar, France - September 2005
Due to the kindness
of friends we were able to stay in a small house in Montclar near
Carcassonne
(Aude) in the Languedoc Region of France at the beginning of
September.

Montclar - situated
in the hills between Carcassonne and Limoux and surrounded by
Grape Vines

We had an excellent cheap flight from Ryanair and hired a Citroen
C3 diesel which allowed us freedom to travel around.

We visited Limoux:-

Church of St. Martin, Limoux

The Organ in the church of St. Martin - we did not hear it played,
unfortunately,
but all the Organ cases
in the churches of this
area are magnificant to look at.

On the way to Montsegur

via Quillan

and the Pays de Sault
We climbed Montsegur

The view from the car park - 1,000 foot to climb from here - total
nearly 4,000 feet.

We spent a few days in Carcassonne itself:-

We drove around some of the smaller villages:-

We visited the Abbaye Hilaire

The Cloister at the Abbaye Hilaire

A typical French house (note sleeping cat!)
We drank some of the local wine of Cotes de la Malepere

Chateau de Montclar

We did not drink all of this though!

but altogether a lovely week.
